The Uttarakhand government revised the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Char Dham Yatra 2021 and issued new guidelines. Due to the increasing number of coronovirus cases in the country, the Uttarakhand Char Dham Management Board announced new guidelines for travel.
The Chardham Yatra was scheduled to begin on May 14, but amid mounting COVID-19 cases, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat postponed the yatra for the devotees. On April 29, he said that “The Uttarakhand government has postponed the Char Dham Yatra this year in view of the state of COVID-19 in the state. Only the priests of the four temples will perform rituals and worship. ”
Now, new guidelines have been issued for the sacred period. According to this, local employees and officials working in the holy temples along with the priests of the pilgrimage sites are allowed to visit the temples. However, it is mandatory for them to bring a COVID-19 negative certificate.
