Coronavirus live updates: India reports 2,897 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

India Covid Live: The national COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.74 per cent, the ministry said.

According to data from the Union Health Ministry, India reported 2,897 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 4,31,10,586, while the active cases rose to 19,494.

The death toll rose to 5,24,157 with 54 fresh deaths, the figures said today.

The ministry said that active cases comprise 0.05 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate stood at 98.74 per cent.

The active COVID-19 caseload has registered a decrease of 143 cases in a span of 24 hours. According to the ministry, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.95 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 0.82 percent.

West Bengal’s COVID-19 active cases rise to 395. has declined

West Bengal on Wednesday reported 25 new COVID-19 cases, officials said.

The positivity rate dropped to 0.27 per cent from 0.68 per cent on Tuesday. He said the new cases were detected after 9,303 samples were tested.

The state currently has 395 active cases, 22 less than Tuesday’s number as more people have recovered in the last 24 hours. The state reported 47 new recoveries.

970 new covid cases registered in Delhi, 1 death in a day; Positivity Rate 3.34 Pcs

Delhi reported 970 fresh Covid cases and one more death on Wednesday, while the positivity rate came down to 3.34 per cent, according to data shared by the health department. This is the first time since April 15 that the positivity rate in Delhi has gone below 4 per cent. The city had recorded 366 fresh COVID-19 cases and zero deaths on April 15, while the positivity rate stood at 3.95 per cent.

With the new cases, Delhi’s COVID-19 infection has risen to 18,97,141, while the death toll has risen to 26,184, according to the latest health bulletin.

It said that 29,037 tests were conducted for the detection of COVID-19 in Delhi a day earlier.

Chhattisgarh saw six COVID-19 cases; no death

Chhattisgarh recorded six fresh COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the tally to 11,52,327, while the death toll stood at 14,034, an official said.

He said that among the fresh cases, the positivity rate of 0.14 per cent included four from Raipur and one each from Bilaspur and Mungeli.

The number of recoveries increased by seven to 11,38,260, taking 33 active cases in the state, the official said.

He said that with the testing of 4,217 samples a day, the number of tests conducted so far in Chhattisgarh has gone up to 1,76,80,738.

31 new COVID-19 cases reported in Gujarat

Gujarat on Wednesday reported 31 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 12,24,594, the state health department said.

The number of COVID-19 fatalities remained unchanged at 10,944, with no fresh deaths reported, the department said in a release.

21 patients were discharged during the day after COVID-19 treatment, taking the total number of recoveries in Gujarat to 12,13,467, with 183 active cases in the state.

46 new COVID-19 cases in Telangana

Telangana on Wednesday reported 46 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 7,92,435.

The maximum number of 30 cases were reported in Hyderabad.

A bulletin of the Health Department said that 32 people have recovered from the infection and the number of people who have recovered so far has increased to 7,87,933.

The recovery rate in the state stood at 99.43 percent.

Mumbai reports 124 COVID-19 cases, no deaths

Mumbai recorded 124 new coronavirus infections on Wednesday, but zero pandemic-related deaths, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a release.

The city thus recorded over 120 new cases for the eighth time this month. On Tuesday, it had recorded 132 new COVID-19 cases and zero fatalities.

The country’s financial capital’s COVID-19 case tally rose to 10,61,038, while the death toll remained unchanged at 19,563.

Of the new COVID-19 cases, only two patients were symptomatic and hospitalised. The BMC release said that none of them were put on oxygen support.

Coronavirus India Updates: No new COVID-19 case in Puducherry

Puducherry reported no new coronavirus cases on Wednesday and the total caseload stood at 1,65,799.

According to health director G Sriramulu, 418 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and no new cases were reported.

He said the active cases were five. The total recoveries stood at 1,63,832.

Odisha reports 17 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

Odisha reported 17 more coronavirus cases today, while no new deaths were reported for eight consecutive days, the health department said.

According to a bulletin, there are 131 active COVID-19 cases and 52 more patients have recovered from the disease.

The daily positivity rate was 0.11 per cent and a child was among the newly infected, with 15,103 samples tested in the last 24 hours, the bulletin said.

The state had recorded 12 infections and zero deaths on Tuesday.

The count was 9,126 and these were confirmed as Covid deaths after an audit. As per the data, 53 other coronavirus patients have died due to concomitant diseases so far.

It added that the tally rose to 12,88,239, which includes 12,78,929 recoveries.

Maharashtra’s Thane reports 26 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

26 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Maharashtra’s Thane district, taking the number of infections to 7,09,250, an official said today.

These new cases were registered on Tuesday, he said.

The number of deaths remained unchanged at 11,894, he said, adding that Thane had a COVID-19 fatality rate of 1.67 per cent.

In neighboring Palghar district, the number of COVID-19 cases stood at 1,63,612 and deaths at 3,407, another official said.

Mizoram reports 33 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

Mizoram reported 33 fresh COVID-19 cases today, eight more than the previous day, taking the state’s tally to 2,27,794, a health department official said.

The COVID-19 death toll stood at 697 as no fresh death was reported in the last 24 hours, the official said.

The one-day positivity rate rose to 7.73 per cent from 5.48 per cent the previous day as fresh cases were detected out of 427 samples tested on Tuesday.

Mizoram currently has 200 active COVID-19 cases, while 2,26,897 people have recovered from the infection so far, including 34 as on Tuesday.

Now the recovery rate from Kovid-19 is 99.60 percent and the death rate is 0.30 percent.

According to State Immunization Officer Lalmuanawma Jongte, more than 8.51 lakh people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 till Tuesday.
