“Don’t Want To Live In An India Where…”: Mahua Moitra Of Trinamool
Mahua Moitra said she worshiped Goddess Kali.
New Delhi:
Amid a growing controversy about his remarks that Goddess Kali is a “meat eater and a liquor acceptor”, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Wednesday challenged the BJP to prove her wrong.
Here’s what Mahua Moitra told NDTV on the controversy:
-
I am a black worshiper. I am a practicing Hindu. The comments were on my own religion. They were not meant to hurt.
-
[BJP’s] Nupur Sharma denigrated Prophet Muhammad. I celebrate Goddess Kali.
-
I don’t want to live in an India where I can’t talk about religion.
-
I challenge BJP to prove me wrong; File an affidavit that Goddess Kali is not worshiped as such.
-
BJP is trying to impose a monolithic, patriarchal, brahminical, north Indian idea of my religion.
