IRCTC’s Bharat Gaurav Tourist train to start on June 21 with stopover at Janakpur, Nepal

On June 21, IRCTC will run its first Bharat Gaurav tourist train on the Ramayana circuit, as planned under the Swadesh Darshan scheme. The circuit will cover all the major places associated with the life of Lord Rama. The train will also stop at the famous Ram Janaki temple in Janakpur, Nepal.


Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train Journey is a journey of 18 days, and it will cover various parts of India and Janakpur in Nepal by train and some parts by road. The journey will start from Delhi, with the first stop at Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram. The first attraction will be Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, followed by Hanuman Mandir and Bharat Mandir at Nandigram.

This train will stop at Buxar in Bihar to visit Maharishi Vishwamitra’s ashram and Ramrekha Ghat. Moving on, the next stop is Sitamarhi, Sita’s birthplace. From here the team will be taken to Janakpur in Nepal to visit Ram Janaki temple. From here the train goes back to Varanasi, India, where tourists will be able to see the temples. The journey to ‘Sita Samhit Sthal’, Prayag, Shringverpur and Chitrakoot will be done by road.

Next destination would be Nashik for Trimbakeshwar temple and Panchavati. Ancient city of Krishnakinda Hampi Next on the itinerary comes. The main attraction here will be the Hanuman temple situated atop the Anjaneyadri hills. The train will further go to Rameswaram where tourists will visit the famous Ramanathaswamy temple and Dhanushkodi.

This is followed by Kanchipuram for the Shiva Kanchi, Vishnu Kanchi and Kamakshi temples; And finally the final destination – Bhadrachalam in Telangana, also known as the ‘Ayodhya of the South’.

Covering a distance of around 8000 kms, the Ramayana Yatra will finally return to Delhi.
