A video of Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar is going viral on social media. It shows the minister standing on the sunroof and two of his security personnel hanging from an SUV in the convoy.
The undated video shows the minister shaking hands while a Punjabi song is heard in the background. While Mr. Bhullar is in a Ford Endeavor, two Maruti Gypsies from the Punjab Police are escorted, and a white BMW is seen chasing the cars.
The video has been shot when the convoy is passing through the fields near the National Highway.
The minister’s stunt is being pulled up on Twitter by users, who also question why he is risking the lives of his security personnel.
Some users also state that it is illegal to travel while sitting on the roof of the car.
One user tweeted, “Just three months more as expected… here it is.”
Another user said on the micro-blogging website, “Why are you risking your life and that of others? Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar ji why are you violating traffic rules and putting the lives of your security personnel at risk.” are.”
Meanwhile, the minister in his defense said that the video is three months old when the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won a massive victory in Punjab and it was made viral by the opposition parties.
The minister further said in his tweet, “I am a responsible and law abiding citizen of this country. This is a conspiracy to defame me.”
Mr Bhullar was among the first 10 people to take oath in the new cabinet headed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He defeated Prakash Badal’s son-in-law Adish Pratap Singh by a margin of 10,999 votes from Patti in the Punjab Assembly elections earlier this year.
