Several parts of the Colombo city will undergo a 10-hour- long water cut on Saturday, Sri Lanka media reports said citing the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) of the country. The report said that the water cut will be effective from today at 10.00 pm and extend till 8.00 am on Sunday morning. It has been imposed due to the maintenance work, reported the Daily Mirror. The supply in four areas of the city will be completely interrupted while two areas will experience low pressure water supply, the board said while advising people to store required amount of water and use it cautiously.

Puducherry reports seven new COVID-19 cases

Puducherry recorded seven fresh COVID-19 cases during the last 24 hours ending 10 am on Saturday, raising the overall caseload to 1,65,832, a senior official of the health department said. Director of Health G Sriramulu, in a release, said the department evaluated 1,251 samples and seven fresh cases surfaced during the examination. There was no fresh fatality in the last 24 hours and the death toll remained 1,962 in the Union Territory.

Of the infections, 56 were found in controlled areas and seven during community screening tests, Liu Xiaofeng, deputy director at Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control, told a news briefing. The city has recorded 1,399 COVID infections since April 22, Liu said.

Over 193.53 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been provided to States and UTs so far through free of cost channel and through direct state procurement category, informed the Ministry of Health and Family welfare on Saturday. “More than 193.53 crore (1,93,53,58,865) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category,” it said. The Ministry also said that 16,67,39,155 balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States and UTs to be administered.

Active case count hits zero, Manipur turns coronavirus-free

Manipur became a coronavirus-free state with three active COVID-19 patients recovering from the disease, a health department official said. The active case count in the northeastern state hit zero for the first time in the last 26 months, Health Services Director Dr K Rajo Singh said. The caseload remained at 1,37,230, he said. Altogether, 1,35,110 people have so far recuperated from the disease and the recovery rate was 98.45 per cent.

Infrastructure investment trust IndiGrid has posted over 45 per cent rise in its consolidated net profit at Rs 99.80 crore in the March quarter, mainly on the back of higher revenues. Total income in the quarter under review rose to Rs 568.50 crore, from Rs 514.09 crore a year ago.
