Tait: Sri Lanka may not prepare big turner against Pakistan

“There are talks about spin for pretty obvious reasons,” Tait told ESPNcricinfo. “But I think, you know, you [Pakistan] Might be the team that definitely changes it. I mean, maybe Sri Lanka doesn’t want to get big spinning wickets against Pakistan. It’s kind of what they did against Australia and Australia bowled really well. So you have to be a little careful in approaching the opposition with good spinners and creating a turning track that can favor the opposition as well.

Tait said the Pakistan fast bowlers are still “excited” to play in spin-friendly Sri Lanka and will be ready to “throw a few more overs” regardless of the nature of the pitch in the series.

“I’m looking at a fast bowling group, we’re just going to come positive and maybe we’re going to bowl a few more overs. We’re going to change some things and change some people’s minds and bowling Really good there and take some wickets too. That’s all I have in mind at the moment. The boys are pretty sure of where they are with the bowling. You see guys like Hasan Ali or Shaheen Shah . [Afridi]they were [an] Excellent last season. So these guys have played a lot of cricket, so I didn’t notice anything that would tell me that they are really confident and willing to go to Sri Lanka and play well.

“I think it’s obviously not a famous place for fast bowlers and generally known for taking wickets. But I think as a fast bowler you have to go with a positive mindset. You know “When you get a chance to bowl your spell, fix it, take a break. Obviously, with the spinners, Sri Lanka will do their job anyway. We are going to be as positive as we can. We have a good pace bowling.” There’s a group. There’s no reason for us not to get excited about the competition.”

Tait said Pakistan are “closer” to being as good as the current Australian team at finding success with the same group of players in any situation around the world.

“I think it probably comes down to if you have enough good players and enough good fields in your team, you can play in any conditions,” Tait said. “Obviously losing to Australia in the Test series has made this Pakistan team really hungry. I think Sri Lanka have figured out the quality of Australia at the moment, the way they are playing and the way they are in their game. That is, what I would say is probably the challenge in world cricket.

When asked about Hasan’s fluctuating form, Tait said: “Personally, hard work is never lacking, that’s for sure.
