Telangana closed all educational institutions for a three-day holiday from tomorrow amid heavy rains in the state. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao took the decision after a high-level meeting with ministers and officials to review the situation in the state.
Earlier today, the Chief Secretary took stock of the situation by video conferencing with the collectors of the districts.
Officials have been asked to be on high alert and people living in low-lying areas may be shifted to special camps if needed.
Water logging and waterlogging occurred in low-lying areas in many districts of the state.
The Met Office said extremely heavy rainfall occurred in Jaishankar Bhupalpally, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Peddapalli and heavy to very heavy rainfall in Adilabad, Jagtyal, Jaishankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Nirmal and Nizamabad districts.
The highest rain recorded today was in Kaleswaram in Jayashankar Bhupalapally district at 35 cm followed by Kotapalle in Mancherial district (25 cm) and Navipet in Nizamabad district (24 cm).
The Met Office has warned that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtyal, Peddapalli, Jaishankar Bhupalpally districts till tomorrow morning.
